OC Health Care Agency Announces Selection of New Director of Office of Care Coordination

(Santa Ana, CA) — The OC Health Care Agency (HCA) is pleased to announce the selection of Jason Austin, MA, LMFT as the new Director of the Office of Care Coordination (OCC).
“It’s truly an honor to have been selected for this vital leadership position in the County of Orange’s system of care for individuals experiencing homelessness,” Jason said. “But this isn’t about me. I look forward to taking my new team to greater heights in service to our community in collaboration with our partners and under the leadership of the Orange County Board of Supervisors.”
Jason first joined the HCA in 2001, and has served as the HCA’s Behavioral Health Services Homeless Coordinator since 2017. In that role, he was responsible for the coordination of behavioral health homeless response and services for the County of Orange, which included oversight of the HCA’s Outreach and Engagment system; collection of data for homeless responses in areas including the riverbeds, city encampments and individual requests for support; and service as a Continuum of Care Board member.
During his tenure with the HCA, Jason has worked to support the program development of each newly developed city and County shelter, and has partnered with CalOptima leadership to launch Orange County’s first street medicine program as well as the development of the Whole Person Care pilot program. Jason has worked with children, youth and adults in a wide variety of clinical settings in Orange County. He has a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and is a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist.
The OCC works to strengthen regional capacity and multi-city, multi-sector investments to prevent and address homelessness, coordinate public and private resources to meet the needs of the homeless population in Orange County and promote integration of services throughout the community that improve the countywide response to homelessness.
